Feeling Sluggish? The Magic Answer Is…

How is your energy this week?

Are you waking up with the birds chirping and sunlight streaming in your windows? Ready to jump out of bed and conquer the day?

Or is it 2pm and you're thinking you need a nap and another cup of coffee?

This time of year is always a wake-up call for me... I love the early sunrise and the sound of birds. I love taking the dog out first thing and drinking in that fresh, damp morning air. I look forward to coffee on the porch, lunch and dinner on the deck. I love taking the kids to parks and seeing what critters and flowers surprise us with their presence.

And yet... I'm always tired this time of year!

In my old age (ahem...), I've developed some minor allergies - so I blame it on that first.

But it's also a matter of realizing all the things I wasn't doing that increase or maintain my energy over the winter months. I wasn't focusing on me, on my health, and on the energy I want.

So now is that time of year - even more so than New Year's - that I tend to get back on track with my healthy choices.

**Drinking water - at least 64oz, if not more!

**Going for walks and doing yoga or workouts.

**Eating lots of healthy greens, fruits, and fresh seasonal produce. (Smoothie season is back!)

**Re-evaluating my sleep routine and making sure I get 7-8 hours per night.

**And meditation or gratitude practices - a little silence everyday gives me energy in ways I can't even describe!

But the key? I HAVE to focus on myself. At least a little.

I have to plan meals - and make sure my husband is willing to help with the healthier meals on the nights I can't cook.

I have to set aside a little time during the day for me - to be quiet, to read, to journal, to be thankful. I'm a happier person when I do this.

I have to find the time - and make it a priority - to move my body.

I know when I focus on these things - my energy increases and I'm a more joyful person.

So my questions today - What do you need to feel more Energy? Experience more Joy? And what's one thing you can focus on this week to make that happen?
