“No” Is A Gift To Yourself

You can’t pour from an empty pitcher…

I bet you think saying “no” to a request for your time and energy is the equivalent of telling someone you don’t care.

And if you think that, then you might also believe they would think you are selfish and wouldn’t want to be your friend anymore.

Am I close? As women, as moms, as humans who want to prove we can do it all - this idea of boundaries on our time is such a hard skill to master!

Many of my clients used to have a hard time saying “no.” They would feel guilty, like they were letting the other person down… So they would say yes and squeeze the request into their already packed day - half-heartedly serving someone they loved with the last ounce of energy they had. (And maybe, just maybe, secretly resenting the fact that they didn’t feel like they could say “no.”)

They did this so often, that their calendars and daily schedules become filled with obligations that had nothing to do with what mattered most to my clients… They were trading in time with their kids to fill roles that, literally, anyone could do. They were using every ounce of energy running from sun up to sun down making sure everyone else was happy - while they were exhausted and depleted. They were laying in bed at night, wondering when they would have the time to do something for themselves…. even if it was a simple bubble bath or walk around the lake.

It wasn’t until my clients realized that their “no” to someone else could be a “yes” to themselves that things started to change.

They started to prioritize their time first, making sure to leave time in the day for what they needed to feel their best (healthy meals, movement, rest) - and sure enough, they felt their energy double! By giving themselves moments in the day to breathe, refresh, and connect with their most important values - they began to feel like themselves again…

By maintaining their own well-being, they were able to serve those they loved in bigger and better ways.

They were able to say a whole-hearted “yes” and feel good about it!

Wouldn’t it be great if you could give those you love a whole-hearted Yes?! Imagine the possibilities! Instead of “going through the motions,” wouldn’t it feel amazing to be excited to share your time and energy with something - or someone - that you 100% can’t wait to serve?

It’s completely possible. But it’s a skill to learn - and it takes practice! If you’re ready to start taking back your time so you can spend it with those you love - schedule a free “Reclaim Your Time” Breakthrough Session today and let’s get you started!
